Martial Arts Movie Majesty!

In our last post, we covered some of the various martial arts movies available that showcase Wing Chun Kung Fu.  This month we're going to open the floor to every martial art!  Below is some of my favourite martial arts movies.  What are your favourite MA flicks?

Fighter in the Wind (2004)
Fight in the Wind is one of my all-time personal favorite martial arts films.  Utterly human and flawed characters, plus wicked fight scenes and one of the best training montages I've seen (gotta love those guitar licks!).

The Raid: Redemption (2011)
Ok, this one is a bit over the top and gory, but it's got some amazing and gritty fight scenes.

The Blind Swordsman: Zatoichi (2003)
This is one of a few Zatoichi movies, and is the best in my opinion.  I feel it holds true to the spirit of the original TV series (each episode a movie on it's own!).  Although Takeshi Kitano doesn't quite have the same boisterousness as Shintaro Katsu, I think he plays the part of an older Zatoichi very well.

Gorgeous (1999)
Wow, that is some impressive boxing choreography!

Kung Fu Panda (2008)
The only animated film on this list, Kung Fu Panda is a great film!  Safe for the whole family, and Jack Black was a great pic for the voice of Po.

Ong Bak (2003)
My favorite scene is where he launches through the air to deliver a simultaneous flying knee & elbow.

Unleashed (2005)
Manages to combine music, martial arts, and mobsters.

Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zen (2010)
The clip below speaks for itself.

Fist of Legend (1994)
My favorite part is when Fumio and Chen are fighting near the end of the movie.  Dust gets in Fumio's eye and so Chen blindfolds himself in order to make the fight fair.  Such honor!
